June 25--In a marriage of two prominent Indianapolis companies, OneAmerica Financial Partners will acquire employee benefits consulting firm McCready and Keene.
The deal is scheduled to close by July 1, according to a joint announcement from the financial companies Thursday. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
McCready and Keene, which has about 95 employees in Indianapolis and other locations, provides independent actuarial and employee benefits consulting services for companies across the country. The firm manages more than 800 retirement plans representing about 500,000 participants with $19 billion in assets under administration.
Leadership of the 75-year-old McCready and Keene will remain when the firm joins OneAmerica's retirement services division. OneAmerica is the holding company better known for its American United Life insurance company.
"Adding McCready and Keene to the OneAmerica family of companies is a strategic move that supports our aggressive growth strategy," said Dayton H. Molendorp, chairman, president and chief executive of OneAmerica.
And McCready Chairman Dan Shelley said the relationship will be an excellent fit for both partners.
McCready and Keene has a reputation as an independent consultant, and it has retirement and trust platforms that will be complementary to those of OneAmerica. The deal also gives McCready and Keene marketing and sales access to the 26 regional offices of OneAmerica nationwide.
OneAmerica has about 1,300 employees in Indianapolis and annual revenues of more than $1.2 billion.
