New call center now hiring [Aiken Standard, S.C.]

Jan. 24--A new call center in Aiken is hiring.

Peace of Mind Insurance Group is planning to hire approximately 60 people to staff its call center on Hayne Avenue. Peace of Mind Insurance Group is an outbound call center for Senior Life Insurance Company.

Co-owner Ron Craven said the call center's work is "non-traditional telemarketing."

The company, Senior Life, runs a national TV ad, and the staff at the center in Aiken will answer calls from people who have seen the ad.

"We never seem to have trouble finding someone to call," said co-owner Mike Robinson.

Applicants should have a high school diploma and no felony record.

A person must be licensed to take calls, but "we are willing to help them go through the licensing process," Craven said.

"Our training program is solid," Robinson said.

Both noted the pay is competitive.

Employees will be hired for two shifts, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Peace of Mind Insurance Group's call center holds a career fair every Monday and Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m., but Craven and Robinson ask that prospective employees call ahead before attending.

Haley Hughes is approaching her five-year anniversary as the Aiken County government and general assignment reporter with the Aiken Standard. Hughes, a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, hails from Knoxville, Tenn.
