NAPW Baton Rouge Local Chapter Holds Networking Meeting – Chapter President Emphasizes Importance of the role of Core Group of Members who select Komen Foundation charity

PR Web

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) July 17, 2012

Members and guests of the NAPW Baton Rouge Local Chapter joined together on June 11 for a professional networking meeting at Drusilla’s Seafood Restaurant, 3482 Drusilla Lane, Suite D, in Baton Rouge. A core group of members set goals and objectives for the Chapter and the decision was made to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Also discussed were topics for upcoming meetings and future guest speakers Trina G. Armstrong, NAPW Baton Rouge Local Chapter President opened the meeting by welcoming members and guests. She also emphasized the importance of a committed group of members who are dedicated to working together to make the Chapter a successful one. She touted the benefits of being a part of the National Association of Professional Women, the largest and most recognized network of female professionals.

“It is so important to establish an active, core group of members who are committed to reaping the benefits of their NAPW affiliation in tandem with promoting the association to the betterment of the community. As women, we have the power to choose whether we are going to be part of the problem or part of the solution,” said Trina. “The NAPW platform is an excellent venue where women can come together to empower and improve not only their lives, but the lives of other women.”

Trina encouraged all members to stay abreast of NAPW happenings by regularly visiting the NAPW website where they can read the monthly Newsletter and search the Community Wall for updates and events. She discussed the Lenovo Special Offers that are available to members as well as the forums for aspiring authors and artists.

The main focus of the meeting, which was to solidify the 2012 goals of NAPW Baton Rouge Local Chapter, to generate ideas for future meetings, and to reach a consensus for adopting a charity, was next addressed. After some discussion, the core group of members and guests came to agreement on a number of issues.

It was decided two of the main goals for the remainder of the year will be to increase attendance and to secure guest speakers for monthly meetings. The group also voted to take on the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation as the charity the Chapter will support.

The Chapter also welcomed new member Olevia M. Holland-Cooper, an Underwriting Team Leader at U.S. Insurance. Olivia has been in the insurance business for nearly 30 years and told the other members she has joined the National Association of Professional Women to network with like-minded women.

In addition to Trina and Olevia, other members in attendance were Niki Marie Hansen and Tiffany Thomas-James.

Upcoming NAPW Baton Rouge Local Chapter meeting dates are Wednesday, August 8, 2012, Wednesday September 12, 2012, and Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) is the largest and most recognized network of female professionals. NAPW provides a forum where women can interact, exchange ideas, educate, network, and empower. NAPW Local Chapters allow members to maximize their experience through meetings, networking opportunities, and professional events.
