Nov. 30--MALONE -- Four people snagged in a drug sweep last week in the greater Malone area pleaded not guilty during arraignments Tuesday in Franklin County Court.

Jesse Blackmon, 32, of East Main Street, Malone pleaded not guilty to a grand-jury indictment for fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (suboxone) and criminal sale of a controlled substance in or near a school.

The District Attorney's Office said he made a drug transaction across from Flanders Elementary School when children were being let out for the day.

Blackmon appeared before County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr., who sent him to County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 insurance bond.

Tony Cook, 27, of Brown Street, Malone pleaded not guilty to a grand-jury indictment for third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (cocaine), third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (clonazepam).

The arrest stems from an incident July 29.

Main sent him to County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 insurance bond.

Lori L. Muller, 23, of Constable was indicted by a grand jury on charges of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (cocaine) and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

The case involved an alleged incident on Aug. 29.

Muller is six months pregnant, has a 1-year-old and lost her home to a fire earlier this month. She pleaded not guilty before Main and was sent to County Jail on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 insurance bond.

Michael Hayes, 23, of Malone, was indicted on two counts of fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (suboxone), stemming from alleged incidents on Aug. 29 and Sept. 14.

He pleaded not guilty and was taken to County Jail for lack of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 insurance bond.

The four are among 12 people netted in a drug sweep last week by the county's Border and Narcotics Task Force.

All four cases are scheduled for conferences in court on Dec. 15.
