Molina Healthcare of Texas Awarded Medicaid Contract for Dallas
Molina Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE: MOH) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Molina Healthcare of Texas, Inc., has been awarded a tentative Medicaid managed care contract by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). The contract award by HHSC is for the STAR+PLUS program, a Texas Medicaid managed care program designed to provide health care, acute and long-term services and support through a managed care system. The contract is for the Dallas Service Area which includes Dallas, Collin, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall Counties (see also Managed Care).

"Our Texas health plan's efforts to serve more STAR+PLUS beneficiaries and to arrange care for more elderly, blind or disabled patients are natural extensions of our organization's commitment to providing quality, accessible health care to underserved populations."
Molina Healthcare of Texas already serves STAR+PLUS beneficiaries in the Harris (Houston) and the Bexar (San Antonio) service areas. As of March 31, 2010, Molina Healthcare of Texas served approximately 40,000 members, including approximately 18,000 who are elderly, blind or disabled.
The contract award to Molina Healthcare of Texas is contingent upon its successful negotiation and execution of a final contract with HHSC. The contract start date is expected to be in the first quarter of 2011.
