Milliman, Inc., one of the premier worldwide consulting and actuarial firms, announced that it has acquired Life Strategies, Ireland's leading independent Life actuarial consulting firm based in Dublin. Effective immediately, Life Strategies will become Milliman Ireland. Life Strategies' clients are chiefly insurance companies, reinsurance companies, and other financial institutions, banks and major distributors. Life Strategies has particular expertise in the life insurance arena, both within the Irish domestic market and the cross border industry from Ireland. The company provides actuarial advice and strategic consulting support.
In making the announcement, Milliman chairman Brad Smith noted, "Life Strategies' position as the leader in its space among Irish consultants continues an important pattern for Milliman. We have been able to successfully attract the best consultants, at least in part, because we offer them the opportunity to work on the most satisfying and rewarding client assignments."
Bruce Winterhof, Director of Milliman's Life Insurance practice, added, "We are delighted to welcome the seasoned professionals from Life Strategies as the newest members of Milliman. Their expertise and proven track record of success in serving clients' requirements is a perfect fit for us, going forward," Winterhof added.
"We believe the decision to join Milliman will prove to be an enormous benefit for our clients," said Dermot Corry, Principal and Consulting Actuary, who leads Milliman Ireland's practice. "Milliman Ireland will continue to provide the high quality actuarial and strategic consulting services that have made Life Strategies the clear leader in the Irish market. In addition, with our colleagues in Milliman offices across Europe and the US, we will now have the ability to resource larger projects including mergers and acquisitions and initiatives across multiple countries," Corry added. "Joining Milliman will allow us to offer a wider range of services to our clients and should enhance our client offering greatly."
Milliman Ireland will continue to be managed by the current management team. All members of the current management and staff of Life Strategies will remain with Milliman Ireland.
