Marquez Illescas Appointed Assistant Professor of Accounting at Clarkson University

POTSDAM, N.Y., Sept. 30 -- Clarkson University issued the following news release:

Gilberto Marquez Illescas has been appointed assistant professor of accounting at Clarkson University.

He received his bachelor of science degree in economics from Universidad de las Americas in Puebla, Mexico; and his master of arts in financial analysis, master of science in business administration & quantitative methods, and Ph.D. degrees from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain.

Before coming to Clarkson, Marquez Illescas was a teaching assistant and a teaching fellow while he pursued his degrees at UC3M. He taught management accounting, management control, auditing, financial economic, and marketing.

Prior to that, Marquez Illescas served as a credit and collection analyst with Tenaris-Tamsa SA in Veracruz, Mexico, and a Tenaris University analyst with Tenaris-Tamsa in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He also has financial planning and investment experience from positions as an industrial cost & accounting analyst, and a financial analyst.

In 2013, Marquez Illescas participated in European and American Accounting Association Annual Meetings where he presented papers on information-sharing in sequential supply chain bargaining, and mimicry and voluntary disclosure. He also presented papers at the Raymond Konopka Annual Workshop in Management Accounting and Accounting History, held in Spain and at the Manufacturing Accounting Research Conference held in Denmark.

He is currently a member of a research project exploring environmental strategic threats and voluntary disclosure.
