Las Cruces mayor Ken Miyagishima seeks county manager job [Las Cruces Sun-News, N.M.]

Miyagishima, 50, said he submitted his application online Thursday after going "back and forth" about the idea for a while. He said he believes his experience as mayor, a former county commissioner and insurance business owner would be useful at the county. Plus, he said he's "worked closely" with City Manager
"I feel I can combine that model with my own experience to bring good management practices and a culture of solid, respectful, professional relationships to county government," he said in a prepared statement.
Miyagishima said he's "extremely happy" as mayor but "interested in the professional challenge and the opportunity to serve as county manager." He said he has five years' experience serving on the multi-county board that oversees risk management -- essentially trying to reduce the financial hit from lawsuits -- for nearly all of
In an interview, Miyagishima said he'd resign as mayor, if he were selected for the county manager role because of the time commitment it would require.
