‘Knight at the Races’ – May 10, 2014

April 25--May 10, 2014

The Purpose

From the moment of its national founding in 1882, charity has been the first principle of the Knights of Columbus, whose members are men of faith and men of action. Nationally, in 2012, in addition to raising and donating more than $167.5 million to charitable needs and projects, Knights volunteered more than 70-million hours of their time to charitable causes. "Knight at the Races" will raise funds to help support local, state and national initiatives and charities.

The People

Primary sponsors for "Knight at the Races" include Council of Catholic Women, Haisley Pet Loss Services, Fort Pierce Orthopaedics, Joe Demarco Knights of Columbus Insurance, Quail Creek Plantation, Sergio A. Urrutia Knights of Columbus Insurance, Holy Family Veterinary Hospital, Seacoast Air Conditioning and Vinnie Errico Knights of Columbus District Deputy.

The Party

The Knights of Columbus St. Anastasia Council 15429 will be "running" its inaugural "Knight at the Races" at 5:30 p.m. on May 10 at St. Anastasia Parish Center in Fort Pierce. Each 'horse' in the race represents one of the many sponsors. Traditional Kentucky Derby food and beverages will be available during the evening. In staying with tradition, ladies are invited to wear their most creative hats. All should feel free to come dressed in their best "Derby Duds" and will have a chance to win a prize. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for viewing of the horses in the Paddock Area. The Parade of Horses will begin at 6:30 p.m. and Post Time for the first of 12 races will follow shortly afterwards. Tickets to "Knight at the Races" are $15 per person and $5 for children under 12. Adult tickets include one free beverage and $1,000 in play money to get you started. Join the Knight of Columbus St. Anastasia Council for a night of fun, laughter and prizes. For tickets or additional information, call Bob Corcoran at (772) 979-6586.
