Joseph A. Frick, Former IBC CEO, Joins Diversified Search as Vice Chairman and Managing Partner

Frick, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Independence Blue Cross (IBC), will be joining as Vice Chairman and Managing Partner on May 1st. Frick retired from his position as president and chief executive officer of IBC late last year after serving nearly six years in that role and 18 years with the company. He is currently a Vice Chair of the Independence Blue Cross Board of Directors. As CEO, Frick enhanced IBC's standing as a corporate leader in the region and was responsible for spearheading a long-term strategic plan for the company, forming a new senior leadership team and launching key initiatives to achieve the company’s goals. As CEO, Frick served on the national boards of directors of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and America’s Health Insurance Plans. Before becoming Chief Executive, Frick was IBC's Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Administration.

Before joining IBC, Frick served as Vice President of Human Resources at Philadelphia Newspapers, Inc. (PNI), which published The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News. He joined PNI in 1987 as Personnel Development Director, responsible for employee relations, training, and development. Early in his career, Frick worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he held a variety of managerial positions in operations administration and human resources.

Frick is active in the community, where he serves on the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce's Executive Committee and was formerly Chairman of the Board. He is currently chairing the United Way of Southeastern PA's annual regional campaign, and is a member of the organization’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Frick is also a member of the Boards of Directors at La Salle University, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Colon Cancer Alliance, and he is a member of the regional advisory board for PNC Bank. He is a member of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer, a non-profit organization of action-oriented executives committed to fighting cancer.

Frick has been honored with many awards during his career, including the distinguished Hope Award from the Multiple Sclerosis Greater Delaware Valley Chapter; the Anti-Defamation League’s Americanism Award; and the Citizen of the Year Award from the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter. He is the recipient of this year's William Penn Award, given by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber for significant contributions to the business and civic advancement of the region, professional accomplishments, leadership experience, and commitment to volunteer efforts.

A liberal arts graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Frick also received an MBA in Management from Loyola College.
