John Ellis to Join XL Group as Regional VP for Marine in New York [Manufacturing Close – Up]

XL Group adds marine underwriting with the addition of John Ellis to its North America Marine business in New York.
In a release, Rich DeSimone, President of XL Group's North America Marine business, said: "Two years ago, we set out to build a best-in-class ocean and inland marine staff and broaden our product portfolio to provide the marine industry with a one-stop risk management resource. We continue to do just that, attracting our industry's top talent to help us carry out the high level of attention and service we aim to deliver. Not only does John share our service commitment, but with nearly three decades of marine industry experience and strong market relationships, he adds more strength to our team. He's going to have a big impact on our profitable growth aspirations throughout the Northeast."
In his new role at XL Group, Ellis will be responsible for managing and building XL Group'sMarine Cargo, Primary and Excess Marine Liability, Inland Marine, and Blue Water and Brown Water Hull business throughout the Northeast.
Ellis joins XL Group from International Marine Underwriters/One Beacon where he held the position of regional vice president. His marine underwriting career also included positions with Royal and Sun Alliance and Global Special Risks, Inc.
