Targeted News Service

DES MOINES, Iowa, Sept. 29 -- Drake University issued the following news release:

A group of leading insurance and financial services experts will gather at Drake University next week to educate Iowans on retirement readiness and the changing environment of personal auto insurance.

U.S. Senator Tom Harkin will kick off the free event, which was organized by Drake's actuarial science program in collaboration with several major companies and includes speakers from PwC, TIAA-CREF, The Principal Financial Group, IPERS and Allstate. Roundtable discussions will be held on Oct. 7 from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in Drake University's Olmsted Center. Harkin will speak beginning at 8:30 a.m.

"This is an exceptional opportunity to explore timely challenges and innovative solutions from some of the foremost experts in personal finance and insurance," said Rahul Parsa, professor of actuarial science at Drake University. "Whether you know a little or a lot about these issues, you'll find a great deal of value in the discussions, particularly in the area of retirement savings."

The event is sure to attract industry professionals and young learners who are preparing for the workforce, including students from Drake University's actuarial science program, which is one of only 15 schools in the United States to be recognized by the Society of Actuaries as a Center for Actuarial Excellence.

Retirement Readiness

"Most people aren't saving enough for retirement, and aren't sure how to secure their futures. Understanding is the first step to finding a solution," Parsa said.

In this panel discussion, the following experts will discuss the social challenges related to retirement readiness as well as strategies for helping tomorrow's retirees:

* Ed Moslander, senior managing director at TIAA-CREF

* Mike Dulaney, senior consulting actuary in retirement actuarial services at The Principal Financial Group

* Robert Yee, director of PwC and former chief actuary, CLASS Office

* Donna M. Mueller, CEO of IPERS

<p>* Larry Zimpleman, chairman, president, and CEO of The Principal Financial Group will address the group during lunch, which is provided for registrants.

The Continuous Evolvement of Auto Insurance

As personal auto insurance continues to evolve, experts are stressing the importance of understanding the role of technology. The following panel of experts will discuss a variety of topics, including recent trends in driving patterns, accident rates, and expectations for the future:

* Patrick Sullivan, writer at Auto Insurance Report

* Ricky Tarranda, director of product management at Allstate

* David Sudzus, partner at DrinkerBiddle

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Visit www.meetpwc.com/drakeroundtable2014 to register and for additional information on the panelists. Drake University's Actuarial Science Program organized the roundtable in collaboration with PwC, Athene, EMC Insurance Companies, FBL Financial Group, The Principal Financial Group, and Transamerica.
