GEICO’s Bikers for Tykes & Troops Motorcycle Rally will rock Virginia Beach

Benefit for Children’s Hospital of The King's Daughters and USO of Hampton Roads

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The fifth annual Bikers for Tykes & Troops Motorcycle Rally and Concerts, sponsored by GEICO Powersports, is rocking the area for a good cause April 9 - 11. A parade of bikes for the USO Freedom Ride, band performances, pro wrestling demonstrations, and contests will benefit Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and the USO of Hampton Roads.

Highlights of the three-day event at KOA Kampgrounds include:

  • Friday, April 9: The Mike Proffitt Band with special guest Suburban Key Party.
  • Saturday, April 10: A new 2008 Harley-Davidson XL883 will be given away to a participant in Saturday’s Freedom Ride. Musical performances include national country artist, Lee Brice, Tailgate Down and David Cynar.
  • Sunday, April 11: “Best bike” contest, poker run, and a performance by Rock Star Parking with special guest Bullwinkle.

Tickets for the rally are available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com.

Motorcycle exhibits, vendors and other activities are planned throughout the weekend; a full schedule for the weekend can be found at www.bikersfortykesandtroops.org.

“We are so proud take part in the fifth annual Bikers for Tykes and Troops Rally,” said Joe Thomas, GEICO regional vice president, “The work that The King’s Daughters and the USO do to ensure that children and families stay healthy is vital and GEICO is proud to be a part of these efforts to support our community.”

Proceeds from the event will go to the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) and the USO of Hampton Roads. CHKD serves the medical and surgical needs of children throughout Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and northeastern North Carolina. The USO of Hampton Roads provides morale, welfare and recreation programs for uniformed personnel and their families in the Hampton Roads community.

Last year, the Bikers for Tykes and Troops Rally and Concert raised $50,000 for both CHKD and USO of Hampton Roads. For more information about the event, log on to www.bikersfortykesandtroops.org.
