Fundraiser to aid woman recovering from traumatic brain injury

Nov. 28--ENID, Okla. -- Five80 Coffee House will host a fundraiser tonight to help an Enid woman severely injured three years ago.

Beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, a handwriting analysis and T-shirt can be purchased for $10 to benefit Amanda Landwehr.

Landwehr has spent the last three years in a prolonged and expensive battle to recover from a traumatic brain injury.

Landwehr was riding on the back of a four-wheeler Aug. 17, 2010, when it crashed into a car in the 500 block of West Mulberry. She was ejected and suffered bruised lungs, several large skull fractures and a brain injury.

She was found by Enid Police Department officers lying across the back of the four-wheeler in the 600 block of West Mulberry. She was taken by Life EMS to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center and was admitted in critical condition.

Since then, the insurance has been maxed out, Crime Victims Compensation Funds from the accident have been depleted, family 401k plans have been cashed in and expended, and Landwehr's mother Marie was forced to quit her job to provide 24-hour care for her daughter.

Amanda has been through eight inpatient treatment centers and rehabilitation centers.

Landwehr family friend Shelly Zaikis said she wanted to help the family and is conducting the handwriting analysis at the coffee shop, 122 E. Randolph, during Enid Lights Up the Plains.

Zaikis said all the money raised will benefit Landwehr by going toward medical expenses.

Zaikis is a certified master graphoanalyst and has 35 years of study into the subject. She also taught the basics of the subject for 23 years in Oklahoma City.

"It's just an amazing insight into people's personalities," she said. "It's based on a system of strokes. It's the scientific method of analysis for strokes in the handwriting."

Those who provide a paragraph of their handwriting can find out what talents they may have, or learn about what their writing says about their emotional make up.

"There are a couple hundred traits you can get from some handwriting," Zaikis said.

She said she wanted to help Amanda because of the hardships she and her family have faced over the last three years.

"It's a struggle for the family and they love her so much," Zaikis said.
