Free Webinar from ISACA Helps Companies Customize COBIT 5 to Improve IT Governance and Management

Targeted News Service

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Sept. 23 -- The Information Systems Audit and Control Association issued the following news release:

According to users of the COBIT 5 framework, the top benefits they achieved are better integrated business and IT, improved risk management and gap identification. To help others learn how to modify COBIT to meet business needs, achieve these benefits, and optimize resources, global IT association ISACA will host a free webinar, titled COBIT Flexibility: Cut to Size, File to Fit and Paint to Match, on Thursday, 2 October 2014, at 12 p.m. EDT (16:00 UTC).

COBIT 5 is a business framework for the governance and management of enterprise information and technology. It provides globally accepted principles, practices and analytical tools to help business and IT leaders maximize trust in and value from their enterprise's IT. COBIT 5 is flexible and customizable, making it globally applicable to organizations of all sizes, locations or industries. More than 90 percent of the COBIT users surveyed said they would recommend COBIT 5 to others.

The webinar will be presented by Mark Thomas, CGEIT, CRISC, president of Escoute, and Debbie Lew, CISA, CRISC, director of ISACA and an executive director and an IT governance and risk management capabilities (GRC) leader with Ernst & Young LLP. Thomas and Lew will provide real-world case studies of successful COBIT adoptions.

"COBIT 5 can offer good processes, practices and activities that organizations can leverage and apply to effectively govern and manage their enterprise IT," said Lew. "ISACA can offer practical guidance based on your role and responsibilities, including assurance, cybersecurity and vendor management to streamline your journey."

Thomas is a nationally known COBIT expert with more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles from CIO to management and IT consulting in various industries. Lew has more than 15 years of experience in banking, insurance, internal audit, business process re-engineering, strategic planning and project management. She has served on ISACA's COBIT 5 Enterprise Assessment Task Force and a COBIT Steering Committee.

"Understanding COBIT's principles can help any organization make better IT-related investments and decisions, and drive more value from their information and technology assets," said Thomas. "This webinar will provide a deeper understanding of COBIT to achieve this purpose."

To register for the one-hour webinar and earn one free CPE credit for an ISACA certification, visit www.isaca.org/webinars.

The COBIT 5 framework can be downloaded free of charge at www.isaca.org/COBIT. This month, ISACA released the online version of COBIT 5, which features customizable RACI and goals cascade tools. The online version of COBIT 5 is available at cobitonline.isaca.org.
