First Michigan Bank Appoints New Members to its Board of Directors
First Michigan Bank announced that Max A. Berlin, Donald A. Coleman, Robert Naftaly, Al Papa, Thomas L. Schellenberg, and Gary Torgow, have joined its Board of Directors, effective immediately.
"We are fortunate to have these gentlemen joining our Board," said David T. Provost, Chairman of the Board of Directors, First Michigan Bank. "Their business experience and their leadership qualities will bring much strength to our Company. They will be welcome additions to the strong Board of Directors we have."
Max A. Berlin is President and CEO of MeasureComp, the leading floor covering computerized measuring system in the industry. Mr. Berlin is the Treasurer of Yeshiva Beth Yehudah, and is a Board Member of Providence Hospital, Southfield, and Orthodox Union, New York. He is a former Director of The PrivateBank - Michigan a unit of PrivateBancorp Inc.
Donald A. Coleman is Chairman and CEO of GlobalHue, the nation's largest minority-owned, full-service marketing communications agency. Coleman is a member of several organizations' boards, including the A.C. Nielsen Center Marketing Research Business School External Advisory Board, the Howard University John H. Johnson School of Communications Board of Visitors, the Board of Trustees for the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Louis Carr Internship Foundation and his own Coleman Education Foundation. He was recently appointed to Vice Chairman of the National Action Network. He is a former Director of The PrivateBank - Michigan, a unit of PrivateBancorp Inc.
Robert Naftaly is retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of PPOM, an independent operating subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of BCBS of Michigan. Naftaly also serves on the Board of Directors for Sun Communities Inc., and Meadowbrook Inc. He also is chairman of the state of Michigan Tax Commission and he chairs the UAW Retiree Medical Trust VEBA. He is a former Director of The PrivateBank - Michigan a unit of PrivateBancorp Inc.
Albert W. Papa is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Consulting Group, one of Michigan's largest privately-held insurance, benefits, and financial services firms with offices in Michigan and New York. Mr. Papa focuses much of his time in working with affluent families in developing estate tax reduction and estate tax payment strategies. He also serves as a consultant for a Fortune Global 50 insurance company as well as providing consulting services to financial services and insurance agencies throughout the United States. Mr. Papa is a long time and active member of the Advanced Association of Life Underwriters and the Oakland County Estate Planning Council. He also sits on the Board of Directors EARC, a reinsurance company. He is a former Director of The PrivateBank - Michigan a unit of PrivateBancorp Inc.
Thomas L. Schellenberg is President of Schellenberg & Associates, P.C. CPAs, a tax and business consulting firm, and President of TS Tax Services, LLC, a payroll services company. Mr. Schellenberg serves on the Board of Directors of Plastipak Holding Company and its subsidiaries. He also sits on the Board of Trustees for the Michigan Opera Theatre, and is a past Board member of the Oakland County Economic Development Corporation. He is a former Director of The PrivateBank - Michigan a unit of PrivateBancorp Inc.
Gary Torgow is the CEO, Chairman and Founder of the Sterling Group, a Detroit-based real estate and development, investment and management company. Mr. Torgow serves on the Executive Board of the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is a member of the Jewish Federation Executive Board, and is a Trustee and Board member of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Michigan. Mr. Torgow is the volunteer President of Michigan's largest day school, the Yeshiva Beth Yehudah. He also serves on the Boards of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Jackson National Life Insurance of New York.
