“Firestorm” shaping up to be best MMA event in county. [Silver City Sun-News, N.M.]
Aug. 31--SILVER CITY -- Powerhouse Combat Sports returns to Silver City on Sept. 18. "Firestorm" is shaping up to be one of the best mixed martial arts events in Grant County that is going to showcase 15 fights, with local fighters Cisco Valenzuela, Geronimo Gonzales, Zach Hines, Randy Sanchez, James Woods and John Quinlan seeing action.
Grant County Punishers, Team Mass Destruction and the High Altitude Training Center will show representation, with two female matches. The rematch between Richard Jacques and Brian Castillo has been long awaited as their last main event was fought under full moon, a light rain and lightning flashing with every strike. Castillo picked up the win, but Jacques will attempt to get some revenge.
D.J. Milligram will provide the entertainment, along with his light show in full effect. Local businesses will get an opportunity to set up a booth, making the Silver City Expo one of the first and biggest events during the action.
Donations of $50-$150 are being asked by vendors, or those without the fee are asked to provide some sort of donation through a good or service.
"I hope this helps generate some profit or perhaps create some new income streams for those businesses," promoter David May said. "I have always felt like Powerhouse Combat Sports is community owned, and if it wasn't for the community we would have shut down a long time ago."
