Ethisphere Magazine Names Ronald F. Duska PhD To 100 Most Influential People In Business Ethics

BRYN MAWR, PA – February 4, 2008 – Dr. Ronald F. Duska the Charles Lamont Post Chair of Ethics and the Professions at The American College has been named one of the “100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics” by Ethisphere Magazine , a global publication dedicated to examining the important correlation between ethics and profit.  The list recognizes individuals for their inspiring contributions to business ethics. 

“I am extremely gratified to be included in such a group of distinguished people, not to mention be listed as a thought leader among a cast of some of the most outstanding business and education leaders,” said Dr. Duska. “My association with The American College and my work as director of The College’s Center for Ethics In Financial Services, which is devoted exclusively to examining ethics in the financial services industry, gives me exposure and access to a wide range of industry leaders—including CEOs and other executives of financial services companies as well as the ‘best of the best’ among financial planners.”  

A panelist of ethics experts from major universities including New York University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Delaware, and Arizona State University, among others, submitted nominations and ranked individuals who influenced ethical behavior in global business.   Research was done in cooperation with analysts from the Ethisphere Institute and while hundreds of individuals were considered, ultimately only 100 made the list.   They are ranked in order from 1 to 100 based upon relative weightings provided by the panelists and analysts.

Ronald F. Duska PhD, is the Charles Lamont Post Chair of Ethics and the Professions as well as the Director of The American College Center for Ethics in Financial Services.  The Center sponsors and conducts a variety of educational programs and workshops in business ethics for the financial professionals. 

One of the Center’s annual highlights is a yearly forum on ethical leadership that brings together prominent chief executives from financial services companies such as Northwestern Mutual, Nationwide, State Farm, Penn Mutual, New York Life and others with the world’s most prominent business ethicists for a day discussing pressing business ethics issues.

Besides directing the center and teaching at The College, Duska is the author, co-author, or editor of numerous books.  His most recent book, “Contemporary Reflections on Business Ethics” was published by Springer in 2007.  It is part of the publisher’s “Issues in Ethics” series. Dr. Duska has also authored numerous articles on philosophy and business ethics in various journals, and lectured and/or taught as an adjunct professor at numerous universities, including The Wharton School of Business and The University of Virginia.
