Dave J. Walsh President Of Amalgamated Life To Keynote S.I.F.M. Bermuda Conference

Yonkers, NY - September 9th 2009 - David J. Walsh, President of Amalgamated Life (A rated A.M. Best) will keynote the Annual Meeting of the Society of Insurance Financial Management during its Bermuda Conference to be held September 14 – 16 at the Southampton Princess Hotel. The Society of Insurance Financial Management founded in 1959, consists of Chief Financial Officers and other Financial Management leaders in the insurance and financial services business. The group’s purpose is educational in nature; SIFM consists of more than one hundred members from leading national companies.
Mr. Walsh’s topic will be an overview of insurance regulatory developments, the financial accountability climate, and aspect of recent developments in insurance law effecting carriers.
David J. Walsh became president and chief executive officer of Amalgamated Life Insurance Company and CEO of Alico Services Corporation in January, 2008. Since taking the reins, Mr. Walsh has reorganized the company, enhanced the leadership team, implemented a strategic plan of action and led the Company’s move to its new state-of-the-art headquarters in White Plains, NY. Prior to joining Amalgamated Life, Mr. Walsh served as Executive Vice President and member of the Office of the President for SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Co., Inc. and its family of companies. His professional background also includes senior vice president and general counsel for Swiss Re America and superintendent and corporate counsel for Swiss Re Life and general counsel of the Domestic Brokerage Group of AIG and director of insurance for the State of Alaska.
Mr. Walsh served as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and was the Co-Founder and First Chairman of the International Association of Insurance Commissioners. Currently, Mr. Walsh serves on the advisory board of the Greater New York Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Insurance Federation of New York, Inc.
Mr. Walsh earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin, a master’s degree in business administration from Alaska Pacific University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loras College.
