Current and Former Chairmen of the IASB discuss Standard Setting Issues in Exclusive Interview for Wiley Insight IFRS

PR Web

(PRWEB) July 31, 2014

In a unique event, Hans Hoogervorst, current International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) chairman and Sir David Tweedie, former IASB chairman, have given an exclusive interview for Wiley Insight IFRS in which they publicly discuss IFRS for the first time.

In the interview, which is hosted by Chris Nobes, Professor of Accounting, Universities of London and Sydney, they discuss current standard setting issues including revenue recognition, accounting for insurance contracts, the Conceptual Framework, the differences between public and private sector accounting and the role of prudence in accounting standards.

Additionally, Sir David Tweedie looks back at the highlights of his ten years at the IASB and Hans Hoogervorst talks frankly about the challenges of his role, being a non-accountant, the future of convergence and the arguments in favour of a unified set of global accounting standards.

Subscribers to Wiley Insight IFRS are able to log in to watch the full 40 minute interview. New users can watch a four minute clip, or alternatively take out a free trial to enable them to view the complete discussion. An overview of the areas covered in the interview, written by Chris Nobes, is also now available on the site.

Additionally, Wiley Insight IFRS provides further coverage around the main topics discussed during the interview:

   •  IFRS 15 technical summary
   •  Reactions from global leaders to the new IFRS 15
   •  "Insurance contracts, dissecting the proposals" by Lisa Emery

Users of Wiley Insight IFRS are also now able to access, on demand, the recent webinars which discussed revenue recognition. During the course of two live webinars which took place at the end of June, expert speakers - Glenn Brady, Prabakhar Kalavacherla and Steve Collings – provided guidance and answered questions on the new converged revenue standard. Glenn Brady is director, Australian Activities at the Australian Accounting Standards Board; Prabakhar Kalavacherla is partner, KPMG and former International Accounting Standards Board member; Steve Collings, is a Wiley author and audit and technical director at Leavitt Walmsley Associates Ltd.

Those viewing the webinars will additionally be able to download slides from the webcast, providing access to an excellent synopsis of the core issues.
