Coventry Health Care of Iowa, Nebraska Names New CEO

Michael Nelson promoted from Chief Operations Officer role

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Michael Nelson was recently named as chief executive officer (CEO) of Coventry Health Care of Iowa, Inc. and Coventry Health Care of Nebraska, Inc. Nelson served previously as chief operations officer and regional vice president of sales for the Iowa and Nebraska health plans. He has been with Coventry since 2004 and is an Omaha resident.

Nelson replaces Charlie Stark, who was recently named as CEO of Coventry’s commercial health plan in Kansas. “Michael’s extensive leadership experience encompasses all functional areas of the local Coventry health plan,” said Charlie Stark. “I’m confident that under Michael’s direction, Coventry’s Iowa and Nebraska health plans will continue to leverage a strong, local leadership model to deliver best-in-class service, operational expertise and value for its customers.”

The Coventry Health Care Iowa and Nebraska plans operate in offices in Omaha, Neb.; Lincoln, Neb. and Urbandale, Iowa.
