Jan. 22--Promotions, hirings and achievements in the workplace.

On the job

Harvey W. "Butch" Raynor III, a former deputy Cumberland County attorney, has joined The Law Offices of Lonnie M. Player Jr. PLLC in the practice of municipal law, creditor's rights in bankruptcy and administrative law before local, state and federal boards and agencies. A native of Dunn, Raynor previously served as Hyde County attorney and as president of the North Carolina County Attorney's Association.

Dr. Kathleen Heer has been approved for the medical staff of Bladen County Hospital and has joined Women's Health Specialists in Elizabethtown. Heer received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

ERA Strother Real Estate made two announcements.

--Feyette "Fey" Thompson has joined the Fayetteville office as a broker associate. She has 15 years of experience in real estate and specializes in home buyers and sellers, the military market and new construction. The Army veteran is originally from Harrisburg, Pa.

--Micelli Bianchini has joined the Fayetteville office as a broker associate. The Fayetteville native also is a licensed real estate agent in Florida and his specialties include home buyers and sellers throughout the region, the military market and new construction.

In business

Joss Transportation Services is a new business that provides enhanced transportation for people to get to work, medical appointments, school, job training and other destinations. The company specializes in transportation for elderly and disabled individuals with initial target areas of Bladen and Columbus counties. Owner Suzanne Huggins is a retired assistant superintendent who worked with schools across the Carolinas as a consultant for exceptional children programs.

P3 Weddings has opened at 106-108 Hay St., Suite 105. The business offers full-service wedding and event planning. Pearlice Diggs, a retired soldier, is the owner and operator.

Contracts

JDM Roofing Co. Inc. has been contracted by CSI Construction Co. to install a standing seam metal roof at Methodist University's nursing building. Mikey Hoffman is the superintendent on the project, and Chuck Wheeler is project manager. JDM also was selected to install a roof on a new building on Person Street, with Hubert Pittman as project superintendent, and to install standing seam metal roofing at the SWCS Dining Facility on Fort Bragg.

Smith Advertising 's contract was renewed with ZipQuest Waterfall & Treetop Adventure for marketing and public relations services, as well as design and strategic overview. Work will include expanding the brand into the Wilmington area.

Achievements

The Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau has renewed its accreditation within the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program through 2014. The industry-wide accreditation program distinguishes official destination marketing organizations committed to industry excellence. John Meroski is the bureau's president and chief executive officer.

Fayetteville Woman's Care PA was named as a "better performer" by the Medical Group Management Association Performance and Practices of Successful Medical Groups: 2011 Report Based on 2010 Data. The recognition, concerning productivity, capacity and staffing, was based on superior operational performance compared with similar medical group practices nationwide. Better-performing practices create operational efficiencies to ensure strong provider productivity. Dr. Myron Strickland is the managing partner.

Joe Preston and Ronald Bundy, both of whom are Allstate insurance agents, recently earned the Personal Financial Representative title. They will now be able to provide variable annuity, variable life and mutual fund products, in addition to auto, homeowner and traditional life insurance products.

Perkins Management Services Co. was recognized by the Federal Times publication as one of the top 100 federal contractors of the U.S. Department of Defense in 2011. Nicholas M. Perkins is president and chief executive officer of the business, which specializes in food services management and has contracted with various military installations along the East Coast.
