Bolloré Africa Logistics Replaces Talend MDM With Orchestra Networks’ EBX
Bolloré Africa Logistics, a leading African logistics provider and subsidiary of Bolloré Group, requires enterprise-wide master data management to manage their business. They launched an MDM initiative three years ago with the goal of improving master data governance at both global and local levels on the African continent.
“Our Logistics business is reliant on the quality of our master data, which defines key data such as deliveries, shipping, locations and routes. All of our users and enterprise applications, both central and local, consume and produce this master data,” commented Thomas Darbois, Chief Information Officer of Bolloré Africa Logistics.
The first phase of the company’s MDM project was focused on deploying an ETL solution based on the Talend Data Integration tool. However; the second phase of the project, which consisted of implementing the Talend MDM solution, did not meet the company’s requirements and was suspended. At this point, Bolloré Africa Logistics made the decision to engage Orchestra Networks, a vendor that specializes in MDM.
“A Master Data Management project requires a highly flexible technology solution, capable of adapting to business users and the enterprise organization. Selecting an MDM solution is very different than selecting a technical data integration product,” continued Darbois. “Today’s ETL vendors also sell MDM solutions but we recommend that companies carefully look at best-of-breed offerings such as Orchestra Networks, which was designed to address real data governance issues. In addition, our MDM selection doesn’t impact our ETL infrastructure, which can be easily integrated with EBX.”
By taking advantage of their integration infrastructure, Bolloré
“In addition to Orchestra Networks EBX solution’s advanced data governance capabilities and ease of use, we have been able to quickly test the D3 feature which offers MDM deployment in a distributed architecture. This feature is key to our company since we must ensure synchronization with our local African repositories, with variable network conditions,” adds
“We are honored that Bolloré Africa Logistics has selected Orchestra Networks’ EBX product. This clearly demonstrates that Orchestra Networks is a leading choice in Master Data Management,” commented Christophe Barriolade, CEO of Orchestra Networks.
