Best’s Review Releases White Paper on ‘Innovation in Personal Lines’ [Professional Services Close – Up]

A.M. Best Company announced that Best's Review Magazine has released a new interactive white paper on the trends driving innovation, the approaches they have taken to put new techniques to work, and how insurers can leverage new capabilities to stay ahead of the competition.

According to a release, the white paper examines out of the box thinking, innovative new technologies, greater access to consumer data, and sophisticated analytical capabilities are giving some personal lines insurers a competitive edge, despite a difficult underwriting market and tight investment climate. It is based on the webinar "Innovation in Personal Lines," sponsored by Earnix and IBM Puresystems.

Panelists for this webinar included:

-Alan Bauer, former President, Progressive Direct

During Bauer's more than five years as head of Progressive's direct business, premium grew by more than 20 percent per annum to over $4 billion. Under his leadership, Progressive was the first to sell auto insurance over the Internet, as well as a pioneer in offering online tools for self-service options.

-Meryl Golden, General Manager North America Operations, Earnix

Golden has more than 25 years of management experience with leading U.S. property & casualty insurers. Working for Liberty Mutual and Progressive, she had direct P&L responsibility for over $1billion in direct written premiums.

-Paul Y. Mang, Partner, Razor's Edge Consulting, a professional advisory firm specializing in property/casualty insurance and a managing director at Avarie Capital.

Most recently, Mang was a partner at McKinsey & Company and a long-time leader in their insurance practice.

-Steve McKay, CEO, DriveFactor, which measures highly predictive variables and provides tracking and driver analytics that help insurers implement usage based insurance (UBI).
