Best’s Review: Adjusters’ Role Is Changing in Industry

OLDWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- May’s Best’s Review features a six-story adjuster/claims package that focuses on how new technology, the need for younger staffing and claims analytics may be the next steps for adjusters. May’s issue also reveals how adjusters say their relationship with insurers is evolving.

Based on interviews from Best’s Review’s exclusive adjuster survey, “Period of Adjustment” reports this segment of the industry is experiencing less work being outsourced by insurers to independent adjusters. Maribeth Danko, owner of Seacliff Claims Group, Huntington Beach, Calif., says carriers no longer pay for time or mileage for the first 50 miles driven and they are turning to flat-fee schedules. “It seems like a trend that’s going to last. Carriers are treating adjusting services as a commodity business.”
