BRIEF: Stearns flood plain maps updated [St. Cloud Times, Minn.]

Nov. 30--Updated flood plain maps for Stearns County are available for the first time in more than two decades.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has been updating the maps for the past two years. The new maps provide more accurate and up-to-date flood hazard information, depicting areas most at risk for flooding.

The maps will be used by local officials, builders, developers, insurance and real estate agents, homeowners and business owners to determine flood risk.

The new maps may show changes for some properties' status in or out of a flood plain. The maps are available at www.co.stearns.mn.us.
