BRIEF: Ousted Chamber CEO’s fraud case adjourned [The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y.]

Dec. 28--An Oneonta Town Court conference scheduled for Thursday in the case of the former Otsego County Chamber president charged with insurance fraud was adjourned until Jan. 26.

Robert "Rob" Robinson was arrested in November for allegedly creating a fictitious membership category within the Otsego County Chamber so that New York City-area residents could enroll in the Chamber's health plan. He was charged with second-degree insurance fraud, two counts of second-degree grand larceny, first-degree falsifying business records and first degree scheme to defraud. He was arraigned in town court and released on his own recognizance. Robinson, who was also chief executive officer of the chamber, was subsequently fired from his posts.

After the adjournment, Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Getman said the case against Robinson will likely go to the Otsego County District Attorney, John Muehl, who will consider presenting it to an upcoming grand jury.

Delhi attorney Jim Hartman is representing Robinson, Getman said. He replaced Eric Jervis, who represented Robinson when the latter was a chamber official.
