BRIEF: Monessen School Board hires district psychologist

June 04--During their work session Tuesday, Monessen School Board members announced they'll look to approve their proposed 2014-2015 budget.

The new budget, as well as a number of resolutions pertaining to the spending plan, will be discussed and voted on during their next business meeting set for 7 p.m.June 19.

Also up for approval will be the fall sports schedules, including varsity, junior varsity and middle school football and boys' and girls' varsity soccer; the monthly rates for health insurance with the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit Rate Stabilization Consortium and renewal of insurance coverage for the district.

Prior to the start of Tuesday's work session, the board held a special meeting to hire Tiffany Sherred as a school psychologist. Her annual salary will be $58,500.

They also held an executive session for "personnel and legal issues," according to board President Donna Fantauzzi.

Monessen Mayor Lou Mavrakis participated in the executive session.
