BRIEF: Man charged with burning baby denied bond reduction [Dothan Eagle, Ala.]
Aug. 27--A Hartford man charged with severely burning a 7-month-old baby last year will remain held behind bars after being denied a reduction in bond this week.
Dothan police arrested 31-year-old Jamie Abrams in April 2009, and charged him with felony aggravated child abuse. He was charged with placing the baby in hot water, which caused second-degree burns to more than 50 percent of the body. The complaint filed against Abrams showed he was either the parent, step-parent or legal guardian of the child when she was reportedly burned.
According to a police statement at the time, police responded to the 2300 block of Denton Road, which is also Abrams' home of record, to a report of an infant with severe burns. The baby was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to a Birmingham hospital.
Records show Circuit Court Judge Kevin Moulton denied a bond reduction for Abrams. He will be held without bond until his trail, which has been scheduled later this year on Oct. 4.
