BRIEF: Fayette County teacher convicted in insurance fraud case [The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, Tenn.]

March 21--A Fayette County jury this week took just 14 minutes to convict a schoolteacher of two counts of insurance fraud.

Chris Springfield, also known as Chris Ann Hobson, was convicted of filing two false disability insurance claims for benefits totaling $3,739.99 in November and December of 2009.

The claims were filed through USAble Insurance Co., which provides disability coverage for employees of the Fayette County School System.

She faces two to four years in prison on each count when she is sentenced in April in Circuit Court in Somerville.
