BRIEF: Crowd expected at expo

Sept. 30--A big crowd of folks, some looking to hire and others looking for work, are expected Tuesday for the 24th annual Employment Expo.

The gathering is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Central Mall in south Salina.

There are jobs to be had in many fields, ranging from manufacturing to health care, retail, insurance, education, media, trucking, local government and law enforcement.

WorkForce Solutions, a division of OCCK that stages the expo every year, set a record by renting 43 booths filled with employers by Tuesday, and at least one more was interested.

Booths can be rented as late as noon Friday by calling Shanna Consbruck-Sowers, director of Workforce Solutions, at 827-9383, ext. 176, or email [email protected]. The cost is $50, but first-time businesses at the expo are eligible for a special rate.

"We have a lot of businesses that come to the expo every year to fill their positions," Consbruck-Sowers said.
