BRIEF: 4-year-old girl badly injured in hit-and-run crash [Albuquerque Journal, N.M.]

Oct. 31--A 4-year-old girl was ejected from a car and is in critical condition after police said a man crashed into two different vehicles, both of which had children inside, earlier today.

Police said Jesus Holguin, 47, crashed into a car while driving through the intersection of Kentucky and Katherine. His vehicle collided with a car driven by a woman and her 10- or 11-year-old child. Neither of them was injured.

Holguin then drove away from that crash without stopping and, witnesses told police, sped through a stop sign and crashed into a second vehicle at Georgia and Eastern. That vehicle had two adults and a 4-year-old girl, who was ejected from the vehicle and rushed to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Both vehicles in the second crash swerved into the front yard of a house on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Holguin will be booked into the county jail on charges of causing great bodily harm in an vehicle collision. Holguin was also driving the vehicle with the wrong license plate on a suspended license, and he had no insurance.

Drivers can expect to be directed around the crash scene until the investigation is complete.
