Ashworth College Expands Pharmacy Tech Training Certification To All 50 States

Ashworth College (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu), a leading online school, has expanded its certification preparation training for students earning their Pharmacy Technician Career Diploma to include certification exams that apply to students in all 50 states.

The online college offers all graduates of the Pharmacy Tech Training program the opportunity to sit for the National HealthCareer Association CPhT certification exam. While the current examination is sufficient for most students, Ashworth recently recognized that passing the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam would better enable graduates to meet applicable pharmacy technician licensing requirements in Arizona, California, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming. In response, Ashworth College now includes PTCB exam prep materials and the PTCB exam as part of the program.

“Earning certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board allows our graduates to demonstrate their mastery of the fundamentals necessary to become pharmacy technicians,” said Dr. Leslie Gargiulo, Ashworth College Chief Academic Officer. “There are always an abundance of career opportunities for men and women in the pharmacy tech field, but for those with certification the demand is even higher.”

Dr. Gargiulo went on to cite U.S. Department of Labor statistics which indicate a growth in career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. “It’s estimated that by 2020, employment as a pharmacy technician will rise by 20%, translating to 70,700 career positions.”
