Amerinet and DOTmed Help Member Realize Gain in Capital Equipment Disposition

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Amerinet member Bothwell™ Regional Health Center was recently able to realize significant earnings on capital equipment turnoverutilizing their Amerinet Choice^® agreement with DOTmed^®, a world-class marketplace proprietor of medical apparatus and service exchange. By employing DOTmed’s streamlined auctioning process – available to Amerinet Choice members at a special discounted commission rate – Bothwell Regional Health Center realized a net 55 percent profit on the essential disposal of a used linear accelerator in their cancer center.

Bothwell Regional Health Center, a 140-bed hospital with more than 900 employees and 100 physicians, has been providing compassionate healthcare to west-central Missouri since 1930. Construction is underway on a new 15,000-square-foot addition to the current center, a state-of-the-art facility honored nationally by both the Oncology Nursing Society and a partnership with the American Cancer Society. The project necessitated the purchase and installation of a new linear accelerator to provide patients with faster, more accurate radiation treatments.

“Only problem was the purchase agreement did not include the trade-in of our old equipment,” explained director of materials management, Rick Langdon. “My hope of having the equipment moved at no cost to the organization seemed like an out-of-reach goal.” Three different removal companies estimated the cost at $15,000. As an Amerinet member, Bothwell Regional Health Center was informed by their local representative about a new Amerinet Choice partner, DOTmed, and their used equipment auction capabilities. In less than three months, DOTmed not only sold the old accelerator for $15,000, they also negotiated the entire deinstallation, crating and shipping at no additional cost. After saving an additional two percent commission utilizing their Amerinet Choice agreement, Bothwell Regional Health Center received a check for $12,500: a net benefit of $27,500.
