Addiction Campuses of America adds Southaven to its map

May 30--A Nashville-area company is adding a substance abuse treatment center in Southaven to its stable for acquisitions marketed as Addiction Campuses of America.

Freedom Healthcare of America LLC, based in Brentwood, announced Thursday that it acquired Turning Point Recovery in Southaven as well as an addiction treatment and behavioral health services firm in Murfreesboro called Spring2Life.

Demand for such services will grow because of federal health care reform. The Affordable Care Act beginning this year required that services for substance use disorders be covered in health insurance plans for individuals sold through the insurance exchanges the act created. Substance disorders also will be covered by Medicaid in states that agreed to expand Medicaid coverage. Tennessee and Mississippi have not accepted Medicaid expansion.

Addiction Campuses of America was founded by Brent Clements, a University of Memphis graduate and former sales director at Little Rock-based Windstream Communications.

Turning Point Recovery has a staff of about 20 and serves North Mississippi, Shelby County and West Memphis.

Freedom Healthcare did not release the cost of its two acquisitions, but reported that $3.8 million in growth capital had been raised for them. Atlanta-based Fulcrum Equity Partners led the venture funding push that included Nashville-based Harpeth Capital, LLC.
