Accuvant Expands Team with 2 New Hires

Proquest LLC

Accuvant, a company focused on information security, announced the appointments of James Christiansen and James Robinson to the Accuvant Office of the CISO.

According to a release, the information security executives join Accuvant chief security and strategy officer Jason Clark in a mission to bring value to the chief information security officer (CISO) community by helping executives think differently about their strategy so they can change, innovate and be more successful.

"The CISO role is relatively new to organizations, and is an executive function that requires a unique combination of security, technology, process and business expertise," said Clark. "James and James each have the experience to help organizations go beyond technology to resolve their struggles and tangibly connect information security policies, procedures and practices with business goals. I am truly looking forward to combining their expertise with those of Accuvant's talented information security consultants. Together, we'll be able to affect positive change while advancing the security industry as a whole."

Christiansen was formerly the chief information risk officer for Evantix and chief security officer for Experian Americas. He joined Experian after serving as chief information security officer for General Motors where his responsibilities included worldwide implementation of security plan for the largest financial (GMAC) and the largest manufacturing corporation in the world. Christiansen previously served as senior vice president and division head of information security for Visa International, where he was responsible for the company's worldwide information security program.

Prior to joining Accuvant, Robinson served as security architecture and strategy officer for Websense. In that role, he was accountable for internal security strategy development, innovation and implementation. He previously served as product security officer for Emerson Network Power, a division of Emerson Electric Company, where he built the company's first product security organization, including program and reference models, which were later adopted by Emerson Electric's CTO office. While in that role, Robinson also secured a patent for his innovative approach to securing critical datacenter infrastructure. Prior to Emerson Network, Robinson worked for Emerson Electric where he played an integral role in significantly decreasing the company's risk by developing and executing on a successful security program for 140,000 employees across 1,500 locations. He has held positions of increasing responsibilities with other Fortune 500 companies such as Anheuser- Busch and State Farm insurance where he ran penetration testing engagements in the company's history.

The Accuvant Office of the CISO provides support in five main areas:

-Creating or adjusting security strategies to be business-driven and threat based;

-Communicating and selling the vision to executives;

-Making everyone aware of the threats, model actors and indicators;

-Providing timely advice and assessment of current plans and strategies; and,

-Delivering industry-wide thought leadership in advancing the role of the CISO.
