Absolute Automation Releases Infographic for Home Owners Property Insurance Statistics

Absolute Automation’s latest infographic venture features the effects of winter weather causing water lines to freeze, as well as the subsequent water damage and annual homeowner policy property losses.

With the onset of cold weather in many parts of North America, Absolute Automation felt it was the right time to illustrate the potentially devastating effects of winter property freeze. “Helping to empower people with the knowledge they need to protect themselves and their property is the goal with this series of infographics”, says marketing manager Nathan McBride.

McBride further conveyed that “many property owners don’t think about the effects a winter furnace failure can have. If a furnace or heating source fails, the subsequent water and property damage can be astounding.”

This latest infographic shows water and freezing damage as being one of the most common reasons for home insurance claims. It also illustrates how burst pipes, flooded basements and the resulting water damage can cost property owners thousands of dollars in replacement materials and repairs.

Infographic researcher Renée Laurin explains that, “With information collected from the American Insurance Association and the Insurance Information Institute, we are able to show large amounts of helpful information to the average at risk property owner in a visually effective way! We really hope to shed some light on the winter monitoring needs of residential and commercial property owners.”

Through this infographic Laurin shows that up to 93% of the cost of water damage could have been prevented and/or greatly minimized if a Freeze Alarm alerting system or an automatic water leak detection system had been present in the homes affected. The visual piece also imparts some sobering numbers including that water caused 9.1 billion dollars in home owner property losses from 2007-2009. This accounted for approximately 23% of all homeowner property loses.
