U of S receives $105K for fire claim

The University of Scranton received a settlement of $105,382.73 for the loss suffered in a Christmas Eve fire to a building on Wyoming Avenue. The settlement was filed with Scranton Fire Superintendent Edmund Lewis.

The university carried a $150,000 insurance policy on the building and $26,000 on the contents of the building. The university received $92,630.98 for the building and $12,751.75 for the contents of the building.

the Globe

Images of the ongoing worldwide military conflicts will be on display at the Globe for three weeks. The photo collection was put together by the Folmer Graflex Corp. of Rochester, New York. The display is sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

The purpose of the display was to give people on the homefront information about the war.

At the theaters

"His Butler's Sister" at the Strand, "Gung Ho" at the Comerford, "Wagon Tracks West" at the State, "The Adventures of a Rookie" at the West Side, and "Lassie Come Home" at the Rialto.
