30 DAYS, $1.8 MILLION AND ZERO BILLS PASSED: KDP STATEMENT ON WASTEFUL GOP-LED GENERAL ASSEMBLY
States News Service
The following information was released by the Kentucky Democratic Party:
As of today, the halfway point in Kentucky's ongoing Legislative Session, the Republican-led General Assembly has yet to send a single bill to Governor Beshear's desk. With Kentuckians facing steep price hikes on everything from groceries to health insurance premiums, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Chair Colmon Elridge released the following statement urging GOP leaders to work with Democrats to pass any bill into law that will help make life easier for Kentucky families who are struggling with the rising cost of living:
"Here's the state of Kentucky's Republican-led General Assembly, halfway through the legislative session: zero bills passed, $1.8 million taxpayer dollars wasted, and Republican lawmakers on track to give themselves raises while gutting health care for Kentucky teachers.
"Instead of addressing the cost-of-living crisis Kentucky families are facing, GOP leaders are shutting down Democratic bills that would protect Medicaid, support rural hospitals and lower costs. Democrats won't stop fighting against cruel policies and partisan games; we ask that Republicans start fighting for their constituents and putting working people first."
