Dec. 28--ITALY
A major accident involving a vehicle and a passenger bus occurred on Northbound Interstate-35 at mile marker 386 in Italy during a severe thunderstorm Wednesday evening.
The accident occurred after a Mustang hydroplaned and hit a bus on the interstate. Eighteen individuals were on the bus when the incident occurred. However, Italy Police Chief Scott Peters said there were no injuries reported from the accident.
"It was the Mustang's fault," Peters explained. "When the weather conditions are real bad, the [fire department] is going to come out and help, so nobody gets hit."
Italy Fire and Rescue responded to the accident at around 8:40 p.m. Peters said the driver was cited for three violations, including no driver's license, no insurance and unsafe speed.
