Sheriff’s Department nabs four drug suspects

March 03--Four arrests involving drugs were made last week by the Logan County Sheriff's Department.

The first was on Saturday, Feb. 22 when deputies responded to a reckless driver complaint on US 79 South.

Upon arrival at the scene, Sgt. Clint Wright observed a black Nissan Altma traveling at a high rate of speed. When conducting the traffic stop and making contact with the driver, Michael Davis, 27, of Oak Grove, Sgt. Wright determined that Davis was operating his vehicle under the influence of drugs. When conducting a search of the vehicle, Sgt. Wright found further evidence of the DUI after locating inside the vehicle both crack cocaine and methamphetamine.

Davis was later arrested and charged with speeding 16 mph over the limit; reckless driving; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, 1st offense; possession of a controlled substance, 1st cocaine; possession of a controlled substance, 1st methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, 1st degree.

Sgt. Wright was assisted by deputies from the Logan County Sheriff's Department and the Russellville Police Department.

On Sunday, Feb. 23 deputy Kyler Harvey of the Logan County Sheriff's Department received a report of a domestic that had become physical at 998 Concord Road in Russellville. The altercation was between Martin D. Bigbee, 30, and Jennifer M. Bigbee, 29, both of Adairville.

According to a police report, Jennifer stated that Martin arrived at the address and assaulted her, then left the scene after stealing her and another subject's phone.

Martin was located by deputies and arrested on charges of assault, 4th degree (domestic violence) minor injury and receiving stolen property.

When deputy Harvey returned to the location to return the stolen property, he located a clear plastic bag of methamphetamine, marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia.

Jennifer was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine); possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

Deputy Harvey was assisted at the scene by deputies Brandon Harvey, Robert Toombs and Bobbie Hooten.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26 the Logan County Sheriff's Department responded to a reckless driver complaint on US 68-80 East. Upon arrival at the scene, deputy Clint Wright observed a white Chrysler Sebring traveling on east 6th Street. Upon activating the emergency equipment on his vehicle in order to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle continued westbound on 6th Street before finally pulling over.

When deputy Wright made contact with Shaina L. Stephenson, 23, of Auburn, he observed a clear plastic baggie in the passenger seat of the vehicle that contained a white powdery substance. The substance later tested positive for cocaine.

Stephenson was arrested and charged with communication devise violation; careless driving; no operators licence; possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree cocaine; possession of drug paraphernalia, 1st and failure of non owner to maintain insurance, 1st offense.

Sgt. Wright was assisted by Captain David Kitchens and the Russellville Police Department.
