The earlier lawsuits name the town, the police department and Aker as defendants. Town Supervisor
Cowles was headed north on
Terry and Cowles allege Aker's patrol car traveled through the light "at an excessive and unreasonable rate of speed ... without appropriate and necessary warning signals operating," the suits state.
The suits also contend both Terry and Cowles suffered lasting and permanent injuries.
Aker returned to duty the next month.
The state police investigated the crash.
Aker's in-car camera captured the crash and the events leading up to it, police have said.
Aker has been a member of the department since
