WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 -- The office of Sen. Thom Tillis, R-North Carolina, issued the following news release:
Today, North Carolina Senators Thom Tillis and Richard Burr provided an update on North Carolina's ongoing recovery from Hurricane Florence:
"North Carolina is reeling from the destruction caused by Florence, and many of our communities are under the threat of more historic flooding as rivers crest. Federal assistance will be the key to North Carolina's recovery over the coming months and years. Based on initial forecasts, we began engaging with Senate appropriators before Florence even made landfall, and over the last week we've had productive and encouraging conversations with President Trump, Leader McConnell, administration officials, Congressional appropriators and our House colleagues. We will continue to work diligently behind the scenes to ensure federal dollars flow to North Carolina as soon as possible to assist with the long-term efforts to rebuild homes, infrastructure, farms, roads and highways that were damaged or destroyed. The recovery process will be long and tough, but we are committed to providing North Carolina with all the federal support it needs."
