Santa Ana woman sentenced to prison for fatal hit-and-run and false insurance claim
Sicairos was driving westbound on
Sicairos drove off without stopping to help Lopez-Lobato, who died at the scene.
Later that day, she filed an insurance claim with
Sicairos also filed a police report claiming vandalism.
She was arrested after a witness saw media coverage of the hit-and-run and reported that a vehicle matching the description was at an auto body shop in San Bernardino County, prosecutors said.
In the sentencing, the victim's sisters said they hope Sicairos has a conscience and will never hurt anyone again.
"The loss caused a very deep pain to my parents, to all of us,"
According to court records, Sicairos has had multiple traffic infractions and citations since 2013, including failing to stop at a stop sign, doing an improper turn at an intersection, speeding and unsafe lane change.
