The HIT is a direct tax on health insurance issuers providing coverage to individuals, seniors, families, and businesses. According to the nonpartisan
Congresswomen Sinema and Noem worked together to help block implementation of the HIT in 2017 and 2019. They also co-introduced H.R. 246, which would permanently repeal the HIT.

Sinema also voted to pass the Restoring Access to Medication and Modernizing Health Savings Accounts Act. The bill allows Arizonans to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to pay for a wider range of health-related services like routine health care visits and removes restrictions on using the funds for over-the-counter medicines.
