Rep. Rosen: Senate’s ‘Skinny Repeal’ Scheme Would Sabotage Health Care System, Harming Hundreds of Thousands of Nevadans

WASHINGTON, July 27 -- Rep. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., issued the following statement in response to what she called the Senate Republicans' "skinny repeal" proposal that would repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act:
"Senate Republicans' latest scheme to jam through a reckless repeal of key parts of the Affordable Care Act would sabotage our health care system, causing coverage losses for 16 million Americans including an estimated 135,500 Nevadans.
"If it becomes law, this repeal legislation will increase your annual premiums by hundreds of dollars, driving health care costs up for women, older and disabled Americans, and people with pre-existing conditions who are already terrified of losing affordable coverage.
"Republicans in Washington have had seven years to come to the table and work with Democrats to improve our health care system. Instead of looking for smart solutions to address market stability or bring down costs, Republicans continue to work behind closed doors to try to score a political win that will only serve to hurt hardworking families."
