WASHINGTON, March 19 -- Rep. Richard Neal, D-Massachusetts, ranking Democratic member of the House Ways and Means Committee, and Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., D-New Jersey, issued the following joint statement denouncing the Republicans' proposal on the Affordable Care Act:
"The Republicans' partisan health care package will not undo the years of intentional sabotage they have inflicted on our nation's health care system.
"Rather than help people, this proposal fails to stop the Trump Administration's regulatory rollback of consumer protections and will severely limit women's access to care and further eliminate ACA consumer protections.
"It's well past time for Republicans to stop playing brinksmanship games with America's health care. Democrats stand ready to work on a comprehensive, bipartisan market stabilization package, but we will not compromise consumer protections in order to do so."
