"The bill will strip away health coverage from 24 million Americans by 2026, including 7 million who receive health insurance through their employer, and significantly raise out-of-pocket costs for consumers, particularly older Americans. Premiums for individual policyholders would rise 24-29% on average in each of the next two years. 14 million Americans would be kicked off
"The CBO report makes clear: a vote for this bill is a vote to limit access, raise costs, and force the chronically ill and lower-income Americans to pay for huge tax breaks for the wealthy.
"The CBO has always been a nonpartisan, respected arbiter of cost and economic impact. That respect must be maintained across party lines, or else we risk creating an environment in which each party can claim its own facts, stifling honest debate.
"Now that the CBO has weighed in, the Budget Committee should cancel its markup this week on a bill that would harm our economy and working families across this country."
