Oklahoma third ‘least safe’ state
"With the highest share of Americans since 2008 citing personal safety as a significant source of stress today, according to a recent APA survey, the personal-finance website WalletHub recently released its report on 2017's Safest States in America" said
"In order to help families find the most secure places to lay down roots, WalletHub's analysts compared the 50 states across 37 key metrics. The data set ranges from assaults per capita to unemployment rate to total loss amounts from climate disasters per capita."
The states being found the most safe were:
"In terms of safety from crime, the answer is fairly obvious-choose to live where crime isn't a common occurrence. Published crime statistics are fairly easy to find, however they must be dis-aggregated fro full understanding, preferably by neighborhood, census tract or block level" said
"Keep in mind also that risk of victimization is highly correlated with lifestyle variables. Individuals whose activities do not place them in situations where crime is likely (e.g., substance use, keeping late night hours, situations where conflicts and disagreements arise regularly) are far less likely to be victimized regardless of where they live."
