The receivership paperwork filed this week detailed a host of problems, including shortages in food and supplies and Skyline's likely inability to pay staff. In it, a company official called residents of the facilities "at risk."

Before that happened, there were indications that things weren't right, Johnson said.
"We didn't have gloves that we could use. If we did, we'd rob them from room to room. I have extremely small hands and we'd only have large gloves. We learned to compensate. We were really careful with what we used," she said.
"We saw the writing on the wall ... but you don't ever think that's a possibility so we just put it off," Johnson said. "Our higher-ups did question things and were told it'd be OK, and we wanted to believe that so bad ... We thought (Skyline) bit off more than they could chew. We thought it would get better. And it didn't."
